Egg:

Patchwork Quilt Egg
It looks at first like a riot of mismatched colors and patterns, as if a random assortment of egg shards had been gathered from past hatchings and pasted onto a new shell. But even the bright colors cannot hide the regular spacing of evenly sized squares, the careful way they all fit together, and the beauty of things old being made anew.

Hatch Message:

Patchwork Quilt Egg sheds sand as it moves, rocking back and forth until it falls and rolls, coming to a stop some few meters away. A whole new set of patches is bared in the process, including one whose bright colors and geometric patterns remain intact for only a moment, a breath, a heartbeat, before bursting forth to be replaced by a long, wet nose, questing up through the torn, frayed edges. The seams bulge, fight to hold, then unravel, stitch by stitch, until the dragonet within is finally free, his hide caressed by air both hot and dry.

Hatchling Name: Nosey Loyalist Brown Dragonet

Dragon Description:

Preeminence gained and then lost, minor battles for succession play out across his form in the feathery overlap of smoky sepia against fogged fawn, a dash of cobalt protesting displacement between paired progressions of bittersweet coffee and cocoa, ruffled out of place. While brown fades into clouded down upon his narrow chest and lean belly, no such harmony claims the rest of his lithe, nimble form; rather, flashes of pallor and the abortive efforts of azure to interrupt the otherwise staid, stately mastery of mahogany produce a speckled cacophony. Narrow fingers of cerulean flaring across the sails similarly striate the oiled walnut underpinning of his wide, rounded wings, which in turn imitates the same black-brown of each closely spaced neckridge, one jostling after the other. This thick, burly neck holds aloft his white-rimmed, weighty head as the crowning feature: a ponderously long, sloping muzzle distinguished by reddish, rusting cinnamon.

Impression Pose:

Nosey Loyalist Brown Dragonet doesn't like the fact that /she/ is pointing at someone else and not /him/. So he'll flare those wings and rear up in front of the one that he's chosen. The one that he will serve from now and forevermore on the adventure of a lifetime. He'll turn his creel into a triumphant bugle and then this brown will bow. Nose to sands with tail in the air, Tannen becomes his one and only. His Queen.

Impression Message: (what you see):

In the farthest reaches of your mind something stirs, /awakens/ with the growing warmth that no longer torments just the pads of your feet. An unnatural dry heat rolls over you, wrapping around and pulling your spirit forward on an unclear journey. The path that splays out before you becomes a beaten trail leading to new experiences, -thrills-, adventure and above all else an undying companionship that becomes the utter definition of loyalty. Whispering kisses of raindrops pattering in a multitude of voices against that parched, firm land leads the way for the vibrational drumbeats that pound out their rhythm for you. Voices crest, intermingling with bells and percussion that will only part at the apex of their celebration. « My Queen! » This cuts clear through the cacophony until it all falls to a hushed lull, and here before you, in body and in spirit he bows. « Tannen. /My/ lady. Never again will you be alone. » His loyalty now pledged, now and forever more, your majordomo, your herald, has arrived under the guise of the African sun.

Personality:

According to Senufo belief, the Hornbill, along with the tortoise, the crocodile, the chameleon, and the serpent, was one of the first living creatures. The long phallic beak touching its swollen belly suggesting pregnancy, represents the dual forces of the male and female components, symbolizing the need for both to ensure the continuity of the whole community. …The Senufo believe [the hornbill] is the master of all arrogant birds and associated with intellectual power, significant of the knowledge the elders hope to impart on the young initiates.

When Senufoth broke through his egg, he came first through a very specific patch filled with bright colors and geometric shapes. This patch was taken from a bit of African Batik fabric, which can have any number of designs or patterns on it, but is characterized mainly by the aforementioned bright colors and shapes. We chose this as a sign of what was to come, for Africa is Senufoth's homeland, and hornbills are commonly seen in various African art pieces and mythology stories. In fact, hornbills are a key part of the creation myth of the Senufo people, and appear often in pieces of their art as a way of symbolizing the continuity of the community. This, too, has its place in Senufoth's personality: undeniably, he is a creature of intense loyalties, first to you and then to the Weyr as a whole, as a community. Though the Senufo myth concerns a different type of hornbill, the Yellow Casqued Hornbill as opposed to the Red-billed Hornbill that your Senufoth is mostly based upon, he still sees the entire world through this lens of responsibility, and if sometimes that means he's a bit arrogant, well, he is also kind, devoted, and wants only the best for everyone.

Mufasa's trusted advisor, Zazu is a prim and proper hornbill with a strong sense of personal dignity. Although Zazu's feathers can be easily ruffled, he is dedicated to Mufasa. The honorable hornbill would give his right wing for the lion king and stays with the pride through good and bad times.

He has a puffed-up sense of his own nobility, and enough pride and pompousness to more than make up for his smaller than average size. He sees himself in a highly self-important light, taking it upon himself to serve as your – no, the clutch’s – nay, the Weyr’s! – personal majordomo. He’ll see it as his mission in life to relay important messages and gather helpful information. While this can indeed serve its purpose, with Senufoth becoming known as incredibly reliable, discerning the difference between real news and juicy gossip may prove a problem, especially when he’s young.

From the moment he hatches, your Senufoth will stick his long nose into your business – and everyone else’s, for that matter. Officious but well-intentioned, he’ll display an eagerness to know things first, so he can report them to the proper authorities, as well as yourself. Keeping up a running commentary, he’ll fill you in on the minutiae of the day, inquiring into other dragons’ business and keeping an eye out for potential troublemakers: « Ceruuth! What /are/ you doing? I’m sure the Weyrlingmaster wouldn’t approve, I’m reporting on you right this second! » It may give Senufoth a reputation as a killjoy, but it’ll also be the source of much amusement when he broadcasts everyone’s private business, agitated and earnest. And who couldn’t laugh at his over-zealous proclamations? « Now see HERE! »

Now what Senufoth lacks in size, he more than makes up for in his broad range in personality quirks, loyalty and well his appreciation for information. You can't quite call him a gossip because he takes everything that is said with a grain of salt, /but/ he will make a point of being the information gatherer for you and your Weyrlingmaster during weyrlinghood and later whomever he reports to as well, be it Wingleader or Weyrleaders. Trust in the accuracy of his words even if they might end up being a monotonous drone of who's flown whom, who's now proddy, who's taking bets and what the current ratio of firestone to rider might be. There will be times though that words will fail and it is in those moments you will hear the vast expanse of the mind that lies beyond the daily monotony of unending reports. That said, expect more than a few mornings where he wakes you up (and everyone else without earshot) with a call to attention, a blaring trumpet of mental sound that shatters sleep and demands notice: the morning report!

Indeed, Senufoth provides an unintentional comic relief more times than not. His weakness for gossiping will cause him to easily fall into the classification of gullible because of his penchant for digging his long, long snout right where it probably shouldn't belong. And there will always be another dragon around to take advantage of it. That said, he can also give as good as he gets, with his dry, biting wit. He's nobody's stooge, and if ever ruffled enough to retaliate, he'll not hold back his tongue. Otherwise, his speech will often betray a formal characteristic aligned with his self-importance. He'll get on famously with U'rr! Expect a stiff upper lip, especially when dealing with unruly counterparts: « Madam, I advise you re-think your opinion. And do stop mocking me!»

On the other hand, Senufoth is easily ruffled, jittery, jumpy, and excitable. If you are looking for a brown that has a cool, calm bravado, then Senufoth is most certainly not your bird - easily ruffled and more easily pounced, in youth he'll likely be the brunt of a few pranks, way too many pounces, and a few raspberries too. Pay it no mind, because he certainly won't. All taken in stride, it will be brushed off with the rest of yesterday's rubbish to an unworthy pile. « Honestly! Eviyath would never act like that! »

With his preferences for information gathering and reporting, Senufoth will make for a great right hand… err, dragon. Although you will always be the first and foremost, he will pay dues and diligence to whichever leadership figure he needs to report in to. If it happens to be someone he does /not/ agree with, his duties will continue on begrudgingly because the best interests of the Weyr must come before his own. Your brown will be a loyalist until his very death and will follow you without question. This might prove advantageous for those trickier times when you're wanting him to do something that he may not otherwise want to do. Easily manipulated is Senufoth, and woe to him once others realize this! Tauroth may prove a particularly pernicious thorn in his side, as Senufoth could easily give up plenty of information "for the good of the Weyr"…only to have that information backfire when it's used to make fun of others! Expect more than a couple angry dragons heading for Senufoth when they realize just how that bit of choice information got out.

If he should ever play the role of clutch father, he will take great pride in rearing not only the eggs upon the sands, but the young dragonets all through their weyrling stage on into adulthood. Like the hornbill he is inspired from, he will share equally in all the duties necessary. This will range from guarding eggs to feeding his mate (should that be her whim), and of course, to protecting his children with a fierce intensity that is rarely seen amongst his male counterparts, often by fanning his wings to make himself appear as large as possible considering his rather small sizing.

Although he takes a great deal of pride in whatever he does, nothing will come great than his duty to you, his Queen. This honorable creature would give you a wing, a paw, even part of his own muzzle, and will always be there for you in the best and the worst of times. Although it might come as a bit of a bane sometimes with his focus on manners and etiquette, he’ll insist he only has your interests at heart.

Within Senufoth's world burns the passion of undying loyalty. From the moment his shell was placed upon the sands, Tannen, his heart and soul was yours. Together, no matter the challenges faced, he will be your one ever-faithful servant who will scoop you up in his wings’ embrace and take you both soaring to amazing heights. His passion is hidden behind the veil of his audacious plumage, but it simmers like the African plains that flavor every aspect of who he is.

In the fabric of what we call life, you will never again have to travel alone with your trusted advisor, your Majordomo at your side. He's not oppressive, merely offering up the tastiest of snippets for the Weyr in general that he feels would be of most interest and use to you. Ah, Tannen. Welcome to the safari of a lifetime.

Senufoth is on the smaller side of the brown scale when it comes to bulk, but what he lacks in bulk he makes up in length in some very unique ways. Long, long mildly hooked muzzle will be both the bane and glory of his existence. Bane: All throughout his youth he will bump it, smack it, get it caught in the most conspicuous of places (playing on that whole 'sticking your nose where it doesn't belong'), and will lead to some very very awkward moments for poor Tannen. It also becomes a pain point because he can't stand getting dust, /dust/ up it. Makes him sneeze. Repeatedly. Just make sure that your superiors are standing out of range when his cannon of a nose starts up and fires away repeatedly. His other elongated attribute will be that long, plummage of a tail that for whatever reason arcs /up/ first, then down so that none of it ever drags on the ground when he walks (it's beneath him and shows poor posture after all).

Colouring will be rather unique - bordering on the side of striking when one considers the subtle blues and whites that accent his form all over even fading to a solid black at various tips' edges. He will actually be a cooler shade of brown overall while moderate hues reflect in most of those unique tonal features. His muzzle of course will be the exception here as in so many other ways: Rich crimson simmers as the base undertone while neutral brown roams over to take off the beak's bite. Not to be outdone is the striking near-white mask that splays on either side of his regal head, flowing down and into the rest of his body while playing escort to the dark line that's drawn from crown down along ridge's length.

His physical features will be lean and lithe with very little in the way of true muscle definition. Pay no worry to this, it won't be for any lack of strength that defining lines are not carved in like some young bronzes. This actually works as a benefit, streamlining him further for flight in all of its wonderful glories because really, that /is/ what he is designed to do.

Oh yes, and we certainly cannot forget: The nose though, it’s long. /Long/, and he never quite works this out. Never works out just /how/ long it really is, so he’s always catching it up on things. He’ll go to make a turn, underestimate the radius, and /whap/. This will be cause for many trips to the dragonhealers with a bloody, and/or bruised snout that is quite often needing to be taped up in comical ways. How bloody embarrassing for such a dignified dragon! Not only the constant miscalculation, but the reoccurring need to wear the bandages!

Speaking of flight, his wings: Wider than they are long, they act like huge sails that span great distances, scooping him (and you) up for long, long distances with barely a beat to further your exploratory adventure. It is something he'll love to do as he grows into maturity. How better to survey the Weyr and report back to you with all the details of the daily events? Of course you /will/ go with him, because why tell when one can /show/ you all the vast glories of Fort, it's surrounding areas and the world beyond that is known as Pern.

Mind Voice:

Warm, warm, /warm/, but not the fiery heat that is spurred on by fire. No, this is the heat of the plains and of an ancient culture ripe with sights, -sounds-, /scents/, beats, and colour! Bursting with energies bestowed upon him by the sun itself, Senufoth celebrates every link of conversational thought with a pulse and vibe that simply cannot be denied. If it is an adventure you seek, you only need to step outside the boundaries of reality, Tannen, and allow Senufoth to take you through the great expanses and rolling plains of his mind.

Dry. Be it in the words that he gifts you with or the imagery set after a day filled with duties, chores, adventure and the general goings-on of Fort Weyr life. It will come in on a whisper, the fluttering of feathered wings that fades into a rain-stick trickle cascading with the excitement that slowly begins to build. As his mood shifts, so will the trinity of sensations that he shares with you:

Sight: The journey will always begin amongst the vast plains with tall, tall grasses painted in the hue of that rusty-gold and illuminated by the decent of the African sun. Traversing along the ancient worn path that he leads you on, the scenery begins to change up with splashes of greens and browns that blend into /reds/ and /blues/ and /yellows/. All incredibly /vibrant/ and stand out amongst the grounding of the land around. Before you know it, life is pulsating and bobbing - pulling you further into the depths of Senufoth's mind. Each mood will travel a different path, display different colour combinations, but never Tannen, will you be denied the pageantry of your brown's mind.

Sound: Hear them? In times of those celebrations the drumbeats are irresistible and will be played out for you first and then for anyone who would dare to tune in to his lively beat. Trust too that those pulses will be of the contagious sort - and mind your own feet because if he has his way you could end up tapping right along with his rhythm.

This of course ties in nicely to the dancer of your clutch: Ceruuth. Who will likely take full advantage of Senufoth's song to writhe and twist out a new hedonistic dance simply for the sake of joining in. At the very crest which is usually reserved for those moments of pure and utter joy, play or celebration, comes the chants and song's culmination. This will be the time you'll find him hardest to ignore and impossible to resist, but if you somehow manage that feet, he's not done just -yet-.
For those more troubling times, his thoughts rumble out at you like a deep thrumming xylophone rolling up the scale in response to whatever frustration or conflict might have just plopped itself in front of our poor lad.

Scent: Last, but certainly not least with be his /scent/ that lingers through all hours of the day. There is a subtle musk laced with the reedy grasses of the plains that only intensifies with the grace of a slight rainfall. Although outwardly Senu might struggle with the blessing of earthen dust, his mind will utterly revel in it. Especially during flights. /Hot/. That searing heat the rolls over and down into your lungs the moment a step is taken from a cool interior to the scorching exterior where dust and dried earth rule with an unrelenting hand.

Senufoth's mental touch is an all consuming experience that is nothing short of an unending expedition that will lead you through a kaleidoscope of rituals and colours to last a lifetime. Enjoy!

Physical Voice:

Oh Tannen, Tannen, sweet quiet Tannen. With your Impression to Senufoth comes the herald of this particular clutch and quite possibly the Weyr itself if he has anything to say about it. Not only will he be the /first/ to announce any new clutching, hatching, leadership change, but he will also be the loudest. By far. It won't be in just the volume that this unique little brown will manage to pull at the attention span of even the most challenging, he's inherited a unique knowledge of how to manipulate his vocal chords to get maximum clarity and sometimes annoyance from his would-be audience.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1AigsW1yrE

Upon day's arrival, he will often be found out on the ledge announcing his presence with a noisy accelerating tok-tok-tok-toktoktok call before settling into the day's review of events and happenings. It will also serve as the perfect wake-up call that he will bestow upon you, fellow weyrlings and future neighbor's alike. Be prepared to do a bit of dodging as things get lobbed in your general direction to turn on that 'alarm'.

With his muzzle being elongated and rather defined, his ability to generate noises and calls that broadcast and echo would be heightened and expect him to use this to his advantage and your dismay. The sound will resonate and vibrate through his entire form and at certain occasions he'll even cup out his wings to form a draconic version of a loudspeaker to enhance that irritating pitch that he uses to get those around to focus on /you/.

He's actually got a wide range in sounds/calls and capabilities that all lie more along the percussion side of things. Even his thrums and growls (and yes he will have his moments for these) have a certain rat-tat-tat pulse to him like they're being fired off in rapid succession. It may sound a little disconcerting, but is no less threatening if that is what his intent behind the sound is meant for.

Our one suggestion to you: Find a good pair of earplugs!

Growth:

Growth, good lord, this will be a tough time for your lovely Senufoth. For whatever reason, that head of his, already decent sized, will always be two steps ahead of the rest of his body, making it awkwardly large. He’ll get tired quick trying to hold it up, but hold it up he will! Your hands are going to get /strong/, because you’ll be needing to rub out that crick in his neck and that bound up muscle in his back from the constant stress.

He’s a smart dragon though, and so quite often he’ll find clever ways of dealing with this. For example, propping his head up on something, like a rock, and he’ll do so with dignity! Like it’s absolutely normal, and instead of lifting his head to peer around, he’ll pivot around the rock. Reserve that strength in his neck for when he really needs it, like when someone /important/ is watching. But he’ll try and make it look cool, whatever he does, and who knows, maybe it’ll catch on with all the dragons? You could probably catch Ceruuth at least trying each new trick out!

These clever ideas, and thinking them up, will cheerfully keep him occupied for much of his growth period. One needs to switch it up, keep everybody guessing, and not be redundant, dontcha know? At some point though, just all the sudden(!), he’ll grow into that head. It’ll almost feel like it happened overnight. Like he went to bed with that overlarge head and his body snuck up and balanced the growth pattern over night, so when he woke up in the morning it wasn’t that awkward anymore. Of course it didn’t happen that fast, but it will be quite sudden. What a relief it will be for your lifemate! It’ll never be /normal/ like all those boring other dragons with their so-called /normal/ sized heads, but that’s the beauty of it, Senufoth will always be /special/ and /abnormal/ in the coolest of ways.

Movement:

Even when he's sitting still, which will be rare, Senufoth fairly buzzes with repressed energy, and his movements will often be marked with hops, skips, and jumps, his wings always aquiver. When forced to sit still, like during weyrling lectures, he may end up bouncing like an excitable child, though he'll be terribly embarrassed about it if you should point it out. » I was not! «

He's fast, too, a speedy flier who zips this way and that with a decidedly officious air. He's so easily startled that flying will always prove an adventure in not falling off, so be sure to always wear your straps. Otherwise, a loud noise will surprise him, and suddenly he'll be going up when you wanted to go down and you'll find yourself closer than is entirely comfortable to tumbling straight towards the ground. When you are wearing your straps, these sudden changes in direction may throw you against them, and you'll end up with some impressive bruises.

Eating:

Right from the start Senufoth won’t eat like all the other dragonets, and they might laugh and call him names, but really, his grazing manner is an absolute health benefit. He’ll eat like a bird, of course. Small meals, spaced out across the day. And the pieces you cut for him in Weyrlinghood will need to be really small, because he isn’t going to want to be handfed. Nope, he’ll want to eat straight from the bowl, mashing his nose in the mess, pecking at the meat little by little until it’s gone and the next meal arrives – an hour or so down the road. If you overfill, he’ll make complaining sounds, but he won’t vocalize those complaints.

The pecking won’t stop when he graduates to his own kills either. Each time he goes in for a bite they will be little quick nips, so it’ll take him forever to finish a meal, unless you school him on how to speed up the process. He wouldn’t want to upset you, or put you behind schedule, so Senufoth will do his best. That sort of works into the several meals a day part. Full sized dragons do not eat every day, so it won’t be too much, but on the day he feeds, he’ll do it in stages.

Also unlike other dragons, he’ll make the kill and then take it back to his ledge, which makes sure no one steals it while he’s taking a break. This could really suck in the summer months, and in the cold cold frozen winter it could complicate things if he tries to bring it /inside/, but at least this way you can be assured exactly how much he’s eating. That way when he’s off his meals, you’ll be able to catch on right off.

Flights:

On the whole, your Senufoth is not a grand lover-type of bird save for when he is busy doting on you. You are his lifemate and to the very end, you are the one he will be forever faithful to. Nature though, that is a wicked call to deny and though he may and well try, the vision of a rising female will inevitably be far too great a pull on those natural instincts to avoid. He might ask you to lend a hand, but for those times when you won't or are otherwise occupied, he'll be forced to take up those issues with the green or gold in question. « Now see /HERE/!!! Don't you know this is an inopportune time to rise? » And we all know how that will go, right?

Oh and will he ever be indignant when she doesn't listen! So much so that he's forced to follow and continue that lecture on appropriate behavior and timing and geeez, well maybe he'll bleed out just /one/ beast, but then it's back to the lesson and before you /both/ know it you're well and truly into that flight.

From there on in, he becomes all business and formality, thriving on that primal pulse that will radiate through you both to drive him right into the heated mix of that lustful dance. The win will be sweetness beyond explanation as he and his momentary mate descend from the heavens. In the post-glow of the mating twine he will be ever the thoughtful lover, sharing with his green or gold a small portion of the warmth he normally infuses you with. Female permitting, he will curl for a time, only returning to you when she's had her fill or your need becomes the greater of the two.

Should Senufoth lose, then it will be like water rolling off his sleekly oiled back. « All in a day's duty madam! » But the reality is, one good dip in Fort's lake to wash away the residuals and he's good to go. You might not be, and that will be a totally different story so don't be surprised if he arrives home with a cute stable-boy to vent some of those post-flight frustrations on.

Much like the symbol he derives from, the pair of you are that male/female dynamic that represents fertility and life in all its great and wondrous aspects. Should he sire a clutch out on the sands, no prouder beast will there be. He'll patrol, and nurse and feed and roll his babies right along with any dam, maybe even daring to offer /her/ some advice if he can get away with it. « You know, if you bury the eggs this way, they can still be seen? » If it is /you/ that is suddenly the expectant one, he will glow and crow and trumpet with utter glee and should the child's father still want to play a part, you Tannen might find yourself in the position of playing referee between both sets of 'dads'.

Threadfall:

Senufoth is all about duty, and the most important duty that a dragon can do is to rid Pern of Thread. While he works out how to permanently, for the good of all Pernkind, he’ll put his every last bit of energy into making sure the here and now is taken care of. There will be no burrows on his watch! Or so he will proclaim, redundantly, every-single-time! To /everyone/.

He’s an officious sort and will take to echoing the Wingleader’s commands, though in a much more dramatic, emphatic voice. Like every call, every command, everything voiced during Threadfall is /of the utmost/ importance, and should absolutely be regarded with proper reverence! Ceruuth’s nature will probably drive him insane during Falls – utterly.

In training he will be diligent! The first to every class, the one who actually practices as many times as he’s told to (though maybe not a lot more, that snout is tiresome!), and he’ll make sure you keep up on your studies. He’ll happily help you with things like terminology – for as long as /he/ can remember them. The Weyrlingmaster, though? Only second to you. He will listen to every single word the Weyrlingmaster utters as if it were from the mouth of the Creator (Faranth) herself!

Weyr Relationships:

Tauroth - One of the characters of your clutch that will likely have poor Senufoth going batty if not dying from outright exasperation. Whether it is due to the constant jabbing for the sake of entertainment or the constant nagging (because Senu /will/ see it as such) to share every little detail there is to be known about the Weyr in full. There is some level of tolerance here, they are brothers after-all, but with the beating of Africa within his veins, it's only a matter of time before Tauroth succeeds in winding up poor Senufoth to the point he'll give in or have a mild implosion.

Ceruuth - Perhaps two sides of the same coins. Here is Senu's dancer for all those rhythmic beats that, at times will prove to be simply irresistible. Senufoth will pick up on this and use it to his advantage at various opportunities, finding his clutchsib a little more easily manipulated in this manner. Easily though, the tables can be turned because if Ceruuth is in the mood to aggravate your brown boy, just so he can get those drumbeats going a little quicker, Senu might find himself getting wound up more and more often.

Inspirations

Egg Inspiration:

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved quilts. My grandmother used to sew them, and I remember that there was a very special purple quilt that I always used when I was at her house. I loved the idea of a quilt being almost part of history, made out of other memories. When I was looking for inspiration on what sorts of things were found at flea markets, quilts were one of the things mentioned, and I loved the idea of an egg that looked like it was made out of past eggs.

Pictures:

Dragon Name Inspiration:

According to Senufo belief, the Hornbill was one of the first living creatures and the mythological founder of their people. They are the symbol of fertility and the original ancestor cult.

Dragon Inspiration:

So how is it that we came to the wild and wonderful creation that is Senufoth? Well first and foremost a special request cannot be denied and since it had been you, Tannen, that had expressed a desire to have a dragon inspired by one of the characters from The Lion King, who would we be to deny that? Especially when you said that this is what got you into RPing in the first place, go Lion King!

You had mentioned both Timone and Zazu and from our wild and wacky minds, we went on with Zazu as the main base for your lifemate, but we didn't want to base him entirely on this so we dove into the creature that Zazu is based upon: The Red Billed Hornbill. Quite an amazing bird you have there, and this breed in particular has the striking colours that were oh-so appealing. What came to light, and was all the better for us since it was again, at your request as that this particular species is about as loyal as the cartoon character that was created in its image. As mentioned above, the Horbill mates for life and is very particular in the way it rears its young and cares for its mate - so much of that meshed well that we just had to weave it right on in.

Of course, we couldn't let you get away scott-free so along with his unique physical traits, we're quite sure his prowess in the air, especially during flights will be a infinite source of fun and entertainment.

You had also requested a little bit of Swahili or African culture and that was something that had Madri-gal there frothing at the mouth. (She had way too much fun researching music and sounds!!!). With so much to pull from, and with music that is so invigorating, it became a near perfect fit for this to become not only part of his main personality but the foundation that his mind-voice was based upon.

You're probably wondering how this all ties in with the clutch theme of Omens, symbology and signs, right? Well take into account that your beloved Zazu is a Hornbill, and your dragons' name originates from the Senofu people. The very same people who believed that these Hornbills were a noble bird and one of the first living creatures. To them this bird is a /symbol/ representing both the male and female aspect and to us, that couldn't have been more perfect.

Egg: Imogen

Inspiration: Madri was supposedly the one driving this bus (who let that madwoman behind the wheel!??!) with Eleni right there in the shotgun position, holding on for dear life with the map to this crazy adventure somewhere in her possession. N'tan? Oh, he was there too (like he'd honesty let his weyrmate out of sight after the /last/ stunt she pulled), sitting at the back of the bus flinging out his usual series of colourful commentary to keep things on the not-so-straight and narrow, while poor sweet Imogen was caught somewhere in the middle, doing what she does best and adding in her calming influence to a wild and woolly ride.

Translation: Everyone had a hand in this dragon and without each and every contribution, no matter how great or how small, Senufoth would not be who he is. We're very proud of him and we dearly hope that he is all that you were hoping for and more.

Inspirational music!

(Madri had waaaaaaaaay too much fun looking up music)
